The Rock Islands are known as the "crown jewels of Micronesia." More than 200 of these rounded knobs of limestone, totally covered with green jungle growth, dot the waters of Palau. The bases of the islands have been undercut by water erosion and by grazing fish and the tiny chitons that scrape at the rock.
